Logistics service providers

For forwarders, carriers and 3PLs who want to offer their customers a customs flow without setting up an in-house department. White-label, API-first.

Logistics service providers

  • An in-house customs department only pays off above substantial volumes — below that, outsourcing is smarter.

  • Customers expect 24/7 NCTS access and T1 guarantee without being a license holder themselves.

  • An own API or TMS integration requires a customs partner that truly integrates, not emails.

  • FENEX/evofenedex members want compliance at the highest level without bureaucracy.

A forwarder or carrier builds value on speed, reliability and relationships. An in-house customs department only pays off if volumes are stably high and complexity manageable. For most 3PLs, SME forwarders and regional carriers, outsourcing the customs flow is simply smarter: lower fixed costs, no license bureaucracy, and always up-to-date with the latest DMS, NCTS and ICS2 releases. DouaneDoc delivers that layer — often white-label, always API-ready.

What’s at play for Logistics service providers

The customs world is digitizing at a pace that’s hard to keep up with for a logistics company without specialized people. DMS 4.0 replaces AGS, NCTS Phase 5 has been rolled out, ICS2 release 3 is operational for air, sea and road, the EU Customs Data Hub is on the way, and CBAM has required actual certificate purchase for relevant imports since 2026. Each release demands changes in integrations, people and processes.

On top of that comes license management: a T1 declaration requires continuous security with Customs. Maintaining your own means bank guarantees, monitoring, and risk management. For incidental transit shipments this isn’t cost-effective; via a customs broker with security (like us) it goes per shipment.

Finally the market demands integration. Customers of forwarders and 3PLs want to see the status of a declaration directly via their TMS, WMS or customer portal — no email ping-pong asking “is the T1 created yet?”. That only works if your customs partner is API-first and can think at the same data speed as your own IT stack. FENEX/evofenedex members also have specific compliance expectations from their general terms and liability frameworks — your customs handling must align with that.

Documents Logistics service providers often need

  • T1 document with our guarantee — We make our continuous security available for your transit shipments, no own guarantee portal needed.

  • NCTS declaration white-label — We declare under our NCTS access, with your customer/order references, so end customer or carrier notices no difference.

  • DTI / Direct Trader Input — For customers with their own declaration wishes, we can act as framework license holder.

  • Bulk export declaration — Consolidated DECO for your groupage or LTL shipments, with underlying article lines per house bill.

  • Import declaration for your 3PL warehouse — We integrate with your WMS and declare on the moment of intake or release, as desired.

  • ENS / ICS2 filings — Pre-Loading and Pre-Arrival for air, sea and road transport.

  • Single Window integration — We handle alignment with phyto, veterinary and license systems where your shipment touches them.

  • AEO coaching for your own organization — For logistics service providers, AEO status (Customs or Security) is both a marketing and operational argument.

How we serve Logistics service providers

We consider ourselves your customs department, with your letterhead. Specifically:

  • White-label under your brand. Declarations, emails and status notifications go under your branding to your end customer. You are the point of contact; we are the engine.
  • REST API with real-time status. Create declaration, request status, receive MRN, push release event — everything via API so your TMS or customer portal stays live. For those who don’t want API: SFTP/CSV or web form.
  • 24/7 NCTS and DMS access. Our declaration systems are available 24/7; for weekend and evening shipments we have a customs shift live, not just on paper.
  • T1 guarantee without you providing your own security. We make our continuous security available, you settle per shipment or via a fixed rate.
  • FENEX-compliant approach. We work according to the Dutch Forwarding Conditions and take into account the liability frameworks of your customer contracts.
  • Scalable for peaks. Brexit peak, Suez incident, sudden volume spike — our capacity moves with you.

See our T1 transit document and export declaration service — we work white-label if you want.

Frequently asked questions from Logistics service providers

We want to do it ourselves — but occasionally a spike. Is that possible?

Yes. Many customers use us as overflow or as specialist for complex shipments (CITES, dual-use, pharma, phyto), while they handle the simple declarations themselves. We work on call without fixed monthly fee, or with a volume tier if you find that clearer.

How white-label is “white-label”?

Fully. Confirmation emails come from @yourdomain.nl (DKIM-linked), MRN confirmations are sent under your template, and in communication to your end customer we are not visible. For compliance, our internal files do clearly show who the actual declarant is — that’s a legal requirement.

Do you work together with our TMS supplier?

We have active REST/SOAP integrations with Transwide, Riege Scope, CargoWise, Boltrics 3PL Dynamics, Logitude, and custom builds, among others. For a new TMS we provide an open API spec and a test environment — usually in production within two weeks.

We’re considering AEO status. Do you help with that?

Yes. For a logistics service provider, AEO-C (Customs Simplifications) or AEO-F (Full) is valuable: lower security guarantees, faster handling, and a marketing argument toward shippers. We support the self-assessment, co-write the process descriptions and sit beside you during the Customs interview.
